"Speaking as a layman, I think he needs an adjustment in his medications," Krauthammer said on the "Special Report" panel this Friday. "This makes no sense whatsoever. He says, 'what rich person, what any person has said the middle class doesn't have any dreams or not have any dreams and denies it?' I have no idea what this is about, except a rant against the rich. And the irony of it, at the beginning of the rant he starts by saying he's out their to refute the charge and that he and other Democrats are resentful envious class warriors and then he says, 'I resent the rich' as a way of refuting that. I'm not sure he even knows what he's saying."

Sen. Johnson Gives GOP Weekly, Slams Obama For Economic "Failure"

GOP: In the Weekly Republican Address, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) discusses Senate Democrats' refusal to pass a budget.

Sen. Johnson says: "It has been over 3 years since the Senate passed a budget. Think about that. Even though families and most businesses produce budgets to help control their finances, the largest financial entity in the world is operating without one. Why? Because Democrats in the Senate refuse to be held accountable. They either don't have a plan, or they simply do not want their fingerprints on one."

He adds: "For his part, President Obama has done nothing to encourage the Senate to pass a budget. Just this week in the Senate, the President's budget lost by a vote of 0 - 99. Last month, it failed in the House by a vote of 0 -- 414. And last year, his budget lost 0 - 97 in the Senate. This is a stunning repudiation of his leadership."

He concludes: "We can do better than this. America should do better. It is time to return to the values and principles that made this country great. I grew up in an America that valued hard work and celebrated success. America became the economic engine of the world, not because of government, but because millions of Americans had the freedom to pursue their dreams. We can reclaim this heritage once again and build a society where hard work is rewarded and every American has the opportunity to succeed. Republicans are ready, willing, and able to lead this noble effort."

Obama Weekly Address: GOP, Lobbyists Delaying Wall St. Reform

For the past three and a half years, we've been fighting our way back from an historic economic crisis "“ one caused by breathtaking irresponsibility on the part of some on Wall Street who treated our financial system like a casino. Not only did that behavior nearly destroy the financial system "“ it cost our economy millions of jobs, hurt middle-class families, and left taxpayers holding the bag.

Since then, we've recovered taxpayer dollars that were used to stabilize troubled banks. And we've put in place Wall Street reform with smarter, tougher, commonsense rules that serve one primary purpose: to prevent a crisis like that from ever happening again. And yet, for the past two years, too many Republicans in Congress and an army of financial industry lobbyists have actually been waging an all-out battle to delay, defund, and dismantle Wall Street reform.

Recently, we've seen why we can't let that happen. We found out that a big mistake at one of our biggest banks resulted in a two billion dollar loss. While that bank can handle a loss of that size, other banks may not have been able to. And without Wall Street reform, we could have found ourselves with the taxpayers once again on the hook for Wall Street's mistakes.

That's why it's so important that Members of Congress stand on the side of reform, not against it; because we can't afford to go back to an era of weak regulation and little oversight; where excessive risk-taking on Wall Street and a lack of basic oversight in Washington nearly destroyed our economy. We can't afford to go back to that brand of "˜you're-on-your-own' economics. Not after the American people have worked so hard to come back from this crisis.

We've got to keep moving forward.

We've got to finish the job of implementing this reform and putting these rules in place.

These new rules say that, if you'rea big bank or financial institution, you now have to hold more cash on hand so that if you make a bad decision you pay for it, not the taxpayers.

You have to write out a "living will" that details how you'll be wound down if you do fail.

The new law takes away big bonuses and paydays from failed CEOs, while giving shareholders a say on executive salaries.

And for the first time in our nation's history, we have in place a consumer watchdog whose sole job is to look out for working families by protecting them from deceptive and unfair practices.

So unless you run a financial institution whose business model is built on cheating consumers, or making risky bets that could damage the whole economy, you have nothing to fear from Wall Street reform. Yes, it discourages big banks and financial institutions from making risky bets with taxpayer-insured money. And it encourages them to do things that actually help the economy "“ like extending loans toentrepreneurs with good ideas, to middle-class families who want to buy a home, to students who want to pursue higher education.

That's what Wall Street reform is all about "“ making this economy stronger for you. And we're going to keep working "“ to recover every job lost to the recession; to build an economy where hard work and responsibility are once again rewarded; to restore an America where everyone has a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same rules.

I believe the free market is one of the greatest forces for progress in human history; that businesses are the engine of growth; that risk-takers and innovators should be celebrated. But I also believe that at its best, the free market has never been a license to take whatever you want, however you can get it. Alongside our entrepreneurial spirit and rugged individualism, America only prospers when we meet our obligations to one another; and to future generations.

If you agree with me, let your Member of Congress know. Tell them to spend less time working to undermine rules that are there to protect the economy, and spend more time actually working to strengthen the economy. Thanks and have a great weekend.

Politico, MSNBC: Is Race Involved With Ethics Complaint Against Black Reps?

Politico's Manu Raju appeared on MSNBC this afternoon to talk with guest host Craig Melvin about a possible racial element behind five black members of Congress being targeted in an ethics investigation.

MSNBC's Melvin seemed caught up with the racial aspect in the case.

"Are black lawmakers being unfairly targeted for ethics investigations in Congress?" he asked Raju.

"Five black lawmakers currently under scrutiny in some shape or form by the Ethics Committee. First of all, is this an unusual number?" Melvin also asked Politico's Raju. Read the transcript below.

"Are black lawmakers being unfairly targeted for ethics investigations in Congress?" MSNBC's Craig Melvin asked. "Congressman Emmanuel Cleaver (D-Missouri), chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, is now calling for members of the House Ethics panel to temporarily step aside. The Congressman, writing a letter, saying in part, quote, 'I write to express my deep and abiding concern with the protracted length, abnormal number, motive, and fairness of pending matters.'"

Five black lawmakers currently under scrutiny in some shape or form by the Ethics Committee. First of all, is this an unusual number?

Raju: Well, that's what Cleaver wants to find out. There are at least five, remember the Ethics Committee is a very secretive committee. There could be even more. And the question is whether or not there are.

You know, Cleaver, there are questions about whether this is racially motivated or not and a lot of these members are senior members of Congress, people who have been around for a long time, people who have been targeted over the years, and when you're that senior and you're that powerful, sometimes things like -- you get hit with some ethics complaints.

The other question is whether or not it's coincidence and Cleaver thinks it may not be.

Melvin: The Congressman cited the case specifically of Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) who has been under investigation for the better part of three years. Are there no rules covering investigations like this and how long they could drag on?

Raju: They could drag on for years. That's part of the concern that Waters has. It's very critical for her, remember she is in line to become the top Democrat on the Financial Services Committee, a very powerful committee if the Democrats win control of the House, she would become chair of the committee.

If this investigation were to continue to drag on, it could be difficult for her to ascend to that spot potentially. Her critics could use that against her. She think she's been unfairly targeted, of course this has to do with allegedly back in 2008 she improperly intervened on behalf of a minority owned bank in which her husband served on the board and owned stock. She said she didn't do anything wrong and she says that this investigation has been completely mishandled and there's an outside council investigating this investigation right now as well.

So, look, these can drag on for a while and these are very uncomfortable for members of Congress because they get dragged through the headlines on this.

Melvin: Last question, Congressman Cleaver has called on Ethics to make their affidavits, specifically in the Waters investigation, to make those affidavits public. Would transparency in these investigations be a good thing or could it open a whole new can of worms and undermine the process?

Raju: The concern is it could undermine the process. If all the times there are little pieces of information floating in the press or someone says something about an investigation, suddenly it could blow up into a major story, even if there's maybe nothing there, that's the concern that lawmakers have. At the same time, folks want to know are my members of Congress being looked at for potentially doing something unethical? It's a fine line they have to balance.

At the end of the segment, Melvin had to apologize for showing the senior Jesse Jackson instead of his son, Jesse Jackson Jr., in a graphic of the five members of Congress under investigation.

"What I find is he's hypocritical with saying, you know, 'the 1% don't get us,' and he's a multi-millionaire now. 'You know, they're not paying their fair share of taxes, now I'm going over to George Clooney's house to get money from millionaires and billionaires,' and he collected $15 million," Jon Lovitz said on "Hannity" last night.

"'Wall Street are the bad guys, but now I have to go to a dinner with Wall Street people to get money for my campaign," Lovitz said as if he were Obama.

"I just think he should, instead of making people victims of people who are successful, we should be telling people, 'Look, you are having a hard time, I feel bad for you. Let's look at what you're doing, let's teach you how to succeed. Let's give you the tools to succeed as opposed to turning everybody into victims, a victim mentality is what he's selling and nobody with a victim mentality will get anywhere. Ever. They will never succeed," Lovitz said.

Malkin On NATO: When Was The Last Time A Tea Party Needed Riot Police?

Michelle Malkin: It does raise this question, and I think we all know the answer of when the last time a Tea Party event required thousands of riot police to guard against anarchy? It's never happened. And that's why it still irks me that there are supposedly good faith people out there that make these moral equivalencies between the Tea Party protesters and this increasingly violent and anarchic occupy movement.

The Occupy people will be there in Chicago. They've been gearing up for this, pretty much all year and there is a blurred like, Neil, between the people who pose as mainstream, peace-loving occupiers black bloc types who are professional agitators. And who have caused, in the past several years, millions of dollars worth of property destruction and damage in the name of protesting global injustice, and of course protesting capitalism itself.

I mean, one guy just told me he thinks this is going to become a huge day trading story. That trading the momentum around the stock is going to be very easy to do and it's going to become incredibly popular trade.

Melissa Lee: Especially if you believe that the underwriters will come in to support $38, you know that's the floor in the stock. There's no downside pressure on the stock. Elizabeth Warren, U.S. Senate candidate: Right. They don't want to talk about how the financial regulations have not been adequate to keep banks like JP Morgan Chase from loading up on risk.
Krauthammer: Super PAC Ad Is Legitimate, Romney Wise Not To Run It

"I think it would be completely legitimate but I think Romney is wise not to do it," syndicated columnist and FOX News contributor Charles Krauthammer said tonight. "Look, I think there is an appalling double standard here. Its ok for The Washington Post to run a 5,000-word front page story on a prank that Romney, at the age of 15, committed. And yet it's somehow illegitimate, the low road or whatever for people to bring up the fact that the adult Obama had a 20-year relationship with a racist, anti-American preacher whom he considered, spoke about, wrote about as his mentor and spiritual advisor. That is a double standard unlike any I've ever seen. Now John McCain accepted it in his campaign."

"I think it's mistake and I think it's legitimate in a case of a man unknown as Obama to ask, where there was no history, there was no legislative achievements or signature, intellectual achievements. He wrote two books that were both about himself incidentally, which might have been a clue. But other than that, we didn't know him and [it is] illegitimate to ask about his associates? How else would you know him? Him and William Ayers. But McCain accepted it. I thought it was a tactical error and I understand the noble intent that was behind it," Krauthammer said on the "Special Report" panel segment tonight.

"But today, I would say tactically it's a mistake because we know who Obama is. He isn't the unknown of '08. He's got a record and you don't have to bring it up. But in principle, if you wanted to, it would be completely legitimate and I think the double standard ought to be denounced rather than accepted as everybody including Romney does," he said.

To say that it needs to be repudiated in people shouldn't talk about it, well I think John McCain made that mistake back in 2008. I think a full vetting of the president while focusing on the main issues: The economy, national security can be done. There is plenty of air time here.
"I have never seen a movement in America to crush a musical genre in a way that this almost organized anti-disco movement rose up and people wearing death to disco t-shirts and really what Donna Summer and others were doing," cultural critic Toure said about the death of Donna Summer on MSNBC today.

"And it was almost like, you know, 'get back in the closet, you can't have something for yourself.' And it reminds me of the discussion around marriage equality, 'You can't have this for yourself.
Rush Limbaugh: Biden Went Nuts In Ohio

RUSH: It's working! It's working! We're coming back! We're coming back! Jobs are starting to come back. This is off the rails. Oh, by the way, news flash just breaking on the Bloomberg wire. Hewlett-Packard considering cutting as many as 25,000 jobs, 8% of its workforce. The day after Joe Biden says things are really starting to come back, signs of life and hope in the heartland, jobs are starting to come back, the ones that are coming back, the kind of jobs you can build a middle class family on. Hewlett-Packard laying off 8% of its workforce. Again, there are very few times I wish this was a television show. This is one of them. I wish you could see Biden's eyes. It's hard to describe with inoffensive language. He just doesn't seem all there, folks, and the theories abound that he's trying to save his spot on the ticket here, that he's really worried.

Romney: Obama Campaign Based On "Character Assassination"

Mitt Romney holds a press conference to respond to a report that a Republican group planned to run ads against Obama linking him to Jeremiah Wright.

"I read the article on the aircraft. As I read the article, I want to make it very clear, I repudiate that effort. I think it is the wrong course for a PAC or a campaign. I hope that our campaigns can respectively be about the future and about issues and about a vision for America. I've been disappointed in the president's campaign to date which has focused on character assassination," Romney said at a press conference.

"I just think we're wiser to talk about the issues of the day," Romney added.

CNN reports: Billionaire Joe Ricketts on Thursday rejected an ad proposal by high-profile Republicans billed as a provocative campaign against President Barack Obama that would run around the Democratic National Convention.

Earlier Thursday The New York Times reported Republican strategists were working with billionaire Ricketts to run commercials "linking Mr. Obama to incendiary comments by his former spiritual adviser, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr."
